Parent/ Caregiver Support Group

Private·10 members

As a group of individuals who have either cared for or been personally impacted by special needs, physical challenges, or rare diagnoses, we understand firsthand the unique challenges and joys that come with being a part of this community. We have seen the struggles that caregivers face, the isolation that families can feel, and the lack of resources and support available to those in need.

But we also know the incredible strength, resilience, and love that exists within this community. We have seen the amazing accomplishments of individuals who have overcome obstacles that many thought were insurmountable. We have witnessed the unwavering dedication of caregivers who tirelessly advocate for their loved ones and fight for their rights.

It is this love and appreciation for the special needs, physically challenged, and rare diagnosis community that has led us to create this support group. We believe that by coming together, we can share our experiences, offer each other comfort and guidance, and celebrate our successes.

We know that it can be difficult to find others who truly understand the challenges that come with special needs, physical challenges, and rare diagnoses. That's why we want to create a safe and welcoming space for individuals and families to connect, share their stories, and support one another.

We believe that by sticking together, we can create a powerful and inclusive community that empowers individuals with special needs, physical challenges, and rare diagnoses to thrive and reach their full potential. We are committed to providing a platform for education, advocacy, and support, and we are excited to embark on this journey with all of you.

Group Rules

Respect everyone's privacy and confidentiality. What is shared in the group stays in the group.

Listen actively and be non-judgmental. Every parent/caregiver's situation is unique, and everyone deserves to be heard.

Avoid giving unsolicited advice. Only offer advice if someone explicitly asks for it. Avoid dominating the conversation. Give everyone a chance to speak and contribute.

No discrimination or prejudice of any kind will be tolerated. Everyone is welcome regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other factor.

No making fun of or bullying anyone for any reason. This is a safe space where everyone should feel respected and valued.

Be punctual and attend meetings regularly. If you cannot attend a meeting, let the group know in advance.

Be open-minded and willing to learn. We all have something to offer, and everyone has something to learn.

Keep the discussion focused on the topic at hand. Try to avoid going off on tangents or discussing irrelevant topics.

Do not discuss any ideas or information shared in the meeting with people who are not part of the parent support group. This is to ensure everyone's privacy and confidentiality is respected.

Issues / Disagreements

Any conflicts should be resolved respectfully and privately. If you have an issue with someone, address it with them directly rather than involving the whole group.
